How to Choose the Right Size for Your Baby Girl's Kurti Set
By Naushaba, founder of Sigoor Fashion · October 2026

Choosing a baby girl kurti set size is harder than it looks, because babies and toddlers grow in jumps and no two children are shaped the same. A set that fits her cousin may be tight on her. In this guide I explain how to measure her in two minutes, how to read our chart, and how to decide when she falls between two sizes. I am Naushaba, I make every Sigoor set by hand in Mumbai, and I would rather you order the right size once than exchange it twice.
Why age is not the best guide
Age labels are only a starting point. Two children of the same age can differ by several centimetres at the chest. For that reason, we always suggest you measure first and use age second.
How to measure your baby girl in two minutes
You only need a soft measuring tape, or a piece of string and a ruler. First, let her stand or sit comfortably. Then take these two measurements.
Step 1: Measure her chest
Wrap the tape around the fullest part of her chest, just under her arms. Keep it snug, but you should be able to slip one finger under the tape. Note the number in centimetres.
Step 2: Measure her length
Next, measure from her shoulder down to where you want the kurti to end, which is usually just above the knee. This tells you whether the kurti length will suit her, and it helps with the bottom length too.
Our kurti set size chart
| Age | Chest | Kurti length | Short length | Bottom length |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1-2 years | 46 to 50 | 43.2 | 38.1 | 45.7 |
| 2-3 years | 50 to 55 | 48.3 | 43.2 | 50.8 |
| 3-4 years | 55 to 58.4 | 53.3 | 48.3 | 55.9 |
| 4-5 years | 58.4 to 62.2 | 58.4 | 50.8 | 61 |
All measurements in centimetres.
Match her chest measurement to the chest column first. After that, check that the kurti length looks right for her height. You can see the full chart, including sleeve lengths, on our size guide page.
What to do when she is between two sizes
If her chest falls between two sizes, choose the larger one. Our kurti sets are made of soft cambric cotton, and cotton is forgiving, so a little extra room is comfortable and gives her a season of growing space. However, if she is slim and the bigger size would look long on her, message us and we will help you decide.
Why cambric cotton fits better, and feels better
We use cambric cotton, a light and breathable fabric that is gentle on baby skin. Because it is soft and does not cling, it moves with her when she plays. Furthermore, it softens with every wash, so the fit gets more comfortable over time.
A few quick tips before you order
- Measure her in the clothes she wears under a kurti, not over thick layers.
- Measure again if it has been more than a couple of months, because babies grow fast.
- Wash the set separately the first time, by hand in cold water.
- Keep the chart handy when you shop, so you can check each design against it.
